What is the Chico Running Club?
Founded in August 1975 by nine passionate runners, the Chico Running Club (CRC) has grown into a vibrant and inclusive community of runners and walkers of all ages and abilities. For five decades, CRC has played a vital role in shaping Chico’s running culture and fostering community and connection across generations.
The club proudly launched two of the city’s most iconic races—the Bidwell Classic and the Almond Bowl. These events have not only become beloved local traditions but have also raised thousands of dollars to support running programs at Chico and Pleasant Valley High Schools, helping young athletes thrive.
The CRC is a nonprofit organization, designated as a 501(c)4 – Civic leagues, social welfare organizations and local associations, created to promote community welfare for charitable, educational or recreational purposes. Donations to the club are not tax deductible.
